Airport Service Centre Opening


The opening of the Airport Service Centre Stage Two, constructed by WCQ, was a huge success.  The Saturday events held in perfect weather were attended by hundreds of people, many of whom were families with young children enjoying the mostly free activities.  From a business perspective the opening was also a great success with coverage in local newspapers, television coverage and the opening by the Mayor of the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

WCQ sponsored the youth – novice – experienced competitor short course duathlon on the day which was an excellent promotional move and one that could be repeated on an annual basis.

WCQ would like to congratulate the winners:
•   Christian Wilson, at just 15 years old won the senior men’s division in the  inaugural WIN1000 Duathlon to celebrate the grand opening of the complex. A Queensland junior triathlon representative, he completed the 2.5km run, 6km bike ride and another 2.5km run in 26.22secs.
•   Amie Munson (33.12secs) won the senior women’s race.
•   Another Queensland junior triathlon representative, Brooke Willis, won the 16 years and under girl’s race.
•   Mitchell Sutton won the 16 years and under boy’s race.

•   Other divisional winners were - Lachlan French, Isaac Rossetto, Matt Hauser, Jessica Thomson, Emily King and Isobel Richter.
